I just don't get the point of cartoon locomotives talking here.
#Sodor island 3d routes simulator
This is a railroad simulator where people provide content in a close to real world setting with accurate and close to life content. Most, if not all, of the trains are based on real world lococmotives.

He also put a fair bit of effort into making a backstory, and making it seem like Sodor could plausibly be a real place. There’s also interesting social commentary on prejudices, for example in Gordon’s attitudes like, “Never trust a domeless engine – they aren’t respectable,” or effectively racism between steam and diesel locos. Most of the stories are based on operational errors of one kind or another, but it would be pretty boring just reading stories about trains running on time. The Riviera Line in the 50s is a good stopgap though, as much of the Little Western was based on that route. Day of the Diesels having a lot of parallels with the situation where I worked at one point.Īnd it's gotten worse with Big World, Big Adventures.Īnyways, I'm aware of Thomas' branch line having been done, but that's about it. But they still manage to sneak in some social commentary at times, e.g. They even get really simple things wrong, like Flora having no buffers (what happens when you need to brake) or Gordon having his buffer beam fall off (it’s an integral part of the frames that has to transmit all the tractive effort dammit – he’d have to be pretty messed up for it to come off). Now the people who make the Thomas and Friends show clearly don’t understand railway operations.
